This course is approved by the California Division of Workers’ Compensation to satisfy the mandatory 16-hour report writing requirement pursuant to CCR §11.5. Completion of this course fulfills the report writing requirement for initial QME appointment.
Course Format
- The 16-hour course is delivered in two parts:
- 10 hours of on-demand, self-paced online instruction
- 6 hours of live virtual instruction via Zoom
After enrolling, you will receive access to the on-demand materials immediately. You will then choose your preferred date for the live session component.

Does this course satisfy the DWC requirement?
Yes. This course is approved by the California Division of Workers’ Compensation and fully satisfies the 16-hour report writing requirement for initial QME appointment pursuant to CCR §11.5.
Do I need to pass the QME exam before taking this course?
No. You are not required to take the report writing course before the exam, but you must complete it before being appointed as a QME. Many providers enroll in both courses together.
Is this course specific to mental health report writing?
Yes. While all required DWC content is covered, the course is oriented toward psychiatric and psychological evaluations. Examples, case discussions, and practical guidance are designed with mental health QMEs in mind.
